I had the pleasure of restoring the interior of an original 1967 Shelby Cobra 427 (not a replica kit car).

When I asked the owner the significance of the license plate "Gumball", he told me this was 1 of the 2 original 1967 Shelby Cobras [CSX 3243 and CSX 3255] in the 1976 movie, "The Gumball Rally."

Because the owner didn't want me to replace the original black leather seats, I was asked to repair the stitches only. However, I did replace the original Shelby carpeting and leather door panels. It was a simple job, and a whole lot of fun!

Restoring Shelby's legendary 2-door roadster, powered by a 428 cubic inch (7.01 L) V-8 engine, reminded me of a time when I restored the interior of an original 1957 BMW 507 roadster.
